Each review score is between 1 and 10. To determine the overall score, we calculate the average of all review scores received. Guests have the option to provide separate subscores for crucial aspects such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free WiFi. The subscores and overall scores are submitted independently, without any direct link between them.
You can submit a review for an accommodation you booked through our platform, whether you stayed there or simply visited the property. To edit a review you have already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
At our platform, we have dedicated people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews. If we identify any suspicious content, we promptly remove it and take appropriate action against those responsible. We encourage our users to report any suspicious activity to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate further.
Ideally, we aim to publish all reviews we receive, regardless of whether they are positive or negative. However, there are certain criteria that may prevent us from displaying a review. Reviews that include politically sensitive comments, promotional content, illegal activities, personal or sensitive information (such as emails, phone numbers, or credit card details), swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, violence, spam, fake content, animal cruelty, impersonation, or any violation of our review guidelines will not be shown.
To ensure that reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. Additionally, reviews may no longer be displayed once they reach 36 months or if the accommodation undergoes a change in ownership.
Accommodations have the opportunity to respond to reviews left by guests. This allows for a constructive dialogue between guests and property owners.
When viewing multiple reviews, the most recent ones will appear at the top, taking into consideration factors such as language and whether the review contains comments or is simply a rating. You can further sort and filter the reviews by the time of year, review score, and more.
Occasionally, we may include external review scores from well-known travel websites, and we always make it clear when we do so.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards are in place to ensure that the content on Booking.com remains relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression or strong opinions. They are applicable regardless of the tone of the comment.
Contributions should be travel-related. The most helpful reviews are detailed and assist others in making better decisions. Please refrain from including personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed, and any issues regarding Booking.com’s services should be addressed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be suitable for a global audience. Kindly avoid the use of profanity or attempts to use creative spelling to approximate profanity in any language. Comments and media that contain hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activities are strictly prohibited.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews hold the most value when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should reflect your personal experience. Property partners of Booking.com are not allowed to post on behalf of guests or provide incentives in exchange for reviews. The submission of a negative review solely to undermine a competitor’s rating is not tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com makes an effort to protect the privacy of individuals by obscuring email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions belong to Booking.com customers and properties and not to Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. We function as a distributor and are not obligated to verify the content. We are not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of submission and other relevant criteria to display the most appropriate reviews. Additional sorting options may be available, such as sorting by the type of traveler or by score.
